The Manta Ray is the nineteenth catch in the Tranquil Sea. It is based off the giant oceanic manta ray (Mobula birostris), a gigantic ray with an average fin-to-fin length of 4.5 m (15 ft) and can weigh up to 3000 kg (6600 lb), females being slightly larger than males. It can be found in all the tropical and temperate regions of the ocean, traveling alone or in schools of up to 50 individuals. Although it has been designated a protected species, the giant oceanic manta ray is still fished in China for use in alternative medicine.
