Original Hammerhead Shark

Information[]

The Hammerhead Shark is the twenty-fifth catch in the Tranquil Sea. It is based off the smooth hammerhead (Sphyrna zygaena), a species of hammerhead without an indentation in the middle of the front margin (hence "smooth"). Its head is likely shaped that way to incapacitate stingrays, its favourite food. Unlike other hammerheads, this species prefers temperate waters and occurs worldwide at medium latitudes. It can grow up to 5 m (16 ft) on average. It is normally hunted for its meat and fins near Australia and the Chinese coast, but is a protected species elsewhere. There have been several reports of poisoning from consumption of hammerhead meat.
